JD (U) MLA kills himself after shooting wife, daughter

Patna: Bihar’s ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U) MLA Abhay Singh on Friday morning alllegdly committed suicide at his official residence in Patna after shooting his wife and six-month old daughter.

abhay-singh-jduSingh’s father Narendra Singh is Minister for Food and Consumer Affairs in Bihar.

Narendra Singh, who was sleeping in another room at the time of the incident, fell unconscious after the incident and has been admitted in the ICU of Patna Medical College and Hospital with cardiac complications.

However, Abhay Singh’s elder daughter is reported to be safe as she was sleeping with her grandmother in another room.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Leader of Opposition Rabri Devi visited Singh’s residence on getting the news of the incident.

Kumar said, “We are with the family members of Narendra Singh,” describing the whole incident to be a sad one.

Police said the Jamui legislator Singh allegdly shot dead his wife and daughter with a gun before killing himself around 2 a.m.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, added the police.

However, the reason behind the whole incident is still unknown. (ANI)
